Yamaha YZF-R15 version 3.0 is presented in two shades of blue and black. It is a fully faired motorcycle, radically different in design from the outgoing model. It promises to be more powerful and seen with features among which are R1 inspired fairing, LED headlamps and tail lamps, a fully digital multi function instrument cluster with gear shift light and connector for USB charging.

The Indian spec bike looses out on USD forks, Metzeler tyres and aluminum foot pegs seen on the models for international markets so as to keep costs at affordable levels. Buyers can also opt for a special Racing Kit that will include stickier Metzeler tyres, Daytona muffler, and frame slider to the package.

It is seen built around a new Deltabox frame and gets updates such as 41mm telescopic forks as against upside down forks seen on the earlier counterpart. It gets 100/80-17 front and 140/70-17 rear tubeless tyres and 282 mm disc brakes with two piston calipers in the front and smaller disc at the rear.

Yamaha YZF-R15 version 3.0 is powered by a 155cc, SOHC, four valve, liquid cooled, fuel injected engine offering 19.2 bhp power and 14.7 Nm torque at 10,000 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6 speed transmission with assist and slip clutch thus making clutch feel lighter and allowing the bike to tackle hard downshifts. The engine is also more capable promising better fuel efficiency. The motorcycle is open for booking from now and is available in Racing Blue and Thunder Grey color options.

9 – UM Renegade Thor

UM Motorcycles has showcased and launched the new Renegade Thor in India. It is India’s first electric cruiser which is priced at INR 9.9 lakhs. The company intends to launch a locally manufactured version of the Thor in India by 2020 at an estimated price of INR 4.9 lakhs.

It sports a typical cruiser design with long wheelbase, a low slung seat, lower handlebars and a flowing fuel tank. It boasts of a classic design with a round headlamp with chrome accents, front set foot pegs and a relaxed riding position, thus making the Renegade Thor ideal for long distance travel.

Features to the rear include an LED tail light, retro styled mudguard and pillion back rest. Renegade Thor also sports a digital instrument cluster, spoke wheels and a host of chrome accents throughout its makeup. It gets clear lens turn indicators and a futuristic looking motor and battery pack. One very vital feature seen on the Renegade Thor is the inclusion of a reverse gear.

Thor, which gets dual channel ABS as standard, is fitted with 41mm telescopic forks in front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. Braking is carried out via 280mm disc in the front and 240mm disc at the rear. It sits on 17” wheel in the front and 15” wheel at the rear.
Engine specifications on the Renegade Thor will include three different power options for the battery. Low range 7.5 kWh unit offers a range upto 81 kms, the mid range 15 kWh battery is capable of a range of 149 kms while the top end 27 kWh battery pack will offer a range of 270 kms. The electric motor develops 40 bhp power and 70 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed gearbox. This gearbox gets hydraulic clutch and liquid cooled motor sending power to rear wheel via a belt drive. Top speed stands at 180 kmph and charging is possible upto 80% in just 40 minutes. In terms of competition in India, the UM Renegade Thor competes with the Bajaj Avenger series and Suzuki Intruder.

8 – Twenty Two Flow

Twenty two Motors was among 12 startup companies that took part in the 2018 Auto Expo. The electric two wheeler company showcased the new Flow e-scooter. Twenty Two Flow electric scooter comes in at a price of INR 74,740. Pre-bookings have opened and deliveries are promised by the second quarter of 2018.

Twenty Two Motors expects to start production of the Flow from its Bhiwadi, Haryana manufacturing facility which will be ready for production operations by mid 2018. The company has invested $70 million in the plant which will have to capacity to roll out 50,000 units per annum. The new Flow electric scooter comes in with artificial intelligence facilities and can be tracked remotely.

The electric scooter comes in connected to cloud servers to offer the user a view of its performance and service updates. It also gets in-built Geo –Fencing claiming security from theft and alerting the owner when the scooter is moved out of a predefined area. The list of features also include programmable LED lamps, electronic brake force distribution, cruise control, take me home mode and reverse mode. It also gets Bluetooth connectivity.

Features on board the Twenty Two Flow electric scooter includes an all digital instrument console, LED lights, electric braking and a boot of 24 liters, large enough to accommodate two helmets. The bike also sports a mobile charger and regenerative braking system that charges the batteries whenever brakes are applied. It gets disc wheels on both wheels which is a first in class feature seen in the scooter segment.

Flow is fitted with a 2.1 kW electric motor offering 90 Nm torque. Its 32 AH lithium ion battery pack takes upto 5 hours for a full charge giving it a maximum range of 80 kms. It is capable of a top speed of 60 kmph. However, the scooter can double its range with the presence of two battery backs to 160 kms.

7 – Emflux One

Emflux One is yet another environmentally friendly electric vehicle that was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. The bike is from Bengaluru based startup Emflux Motors. This new electric two wheeler startup has been formed by three persons Varun Mittal, Ankit Khatry and Vinay Raj Somashekhar.

7 – Emflux One

Emflux One is yet another environmentally friendly electric vehicle that was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. The bike is from Bengaluru based startup Emflux Motors. This new electric two wheeler startup has been formed by three persons Varun Mittal, Ankit Khatry and Vinay Raj Somashekhar.

Seen at the expo in a brilliant shade of Electric Blue, Emflux One gets its power via a Samsung Lithium ion 9.7 kWh battery back with a 60 kW AC induction motor. It gets power limited to 53 kW via a controller. With this engine that produces 71 bhp power and 84 Nm torque, limited to 75 Nm, the Emflux One commands acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph in 3 seconds and a top speed of 200 kmph.

The designers claim that all designs and circuits of Emflux One have been developed completely in-house at Emflux Motors. The Emflux One will be priced between INR 5.5 to 6 lakhs and will be on show at company experience centers located in Bengaluru, Mumbai and New Delhi. All purchases of the Emflux One will be online through digital payment facilities. Emflux Motors is also working on Emflux Two which will be a naked street bike set for launch after Emflux One. This model will be presented in two variants and promises a range of 150 kms and 220 kms.

The bike is powered by 9.7 KWh battery pack that has an output of 53 kW and 73 Nm. The bike also gets dual channel ABS, and Pirelli Diablo tyres. It has a range of 200 km on a full charge and the battery pack takes about an hour to get fully charged. Bookings will start soon and the deliveries will start in April 2019.

6 – Menza Lucat

Called the Menza Lucat, the bike is open for pre-bookings at a down payment of INR 10,000 while it is priced at INR 2,79,999. Bookings are open till the end of February and for this purpose the company has entered into an agreement with Paytm Mall through which bookings can be made via the mobile app.

Menza Lucat is completely customizable and receives smart connectivity. This modern café racer can be customized where specifications such as body type, seat height, foot rest position and handle bar position is concerned. It comes in with optional carbon fiber body, a cantilevered tail end, spoked wheels, circular headlamps and has been put to the test over 10,000 kms prior to its official showcasing at the Auto Expo.

Buyers can choose from 77 color options for the bodywork. The package also includes a safety system that offers all information with regard to speed limits, battery drainage and automatic motor shut off with button for launch control.

5 – UM Renegade Duty

American Motorcycle makers, UM Motorcycles has recently launched the Renegade Duty Ace and Renegade Duty S in India. It was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo and officially launched in the country at INR 1.10 lakhs.

Renegade Duty is a cruiser bike with rugged appeal and premium features. It sports a new design language and gets a powerful engine thus making it suitable both for on and off road performance. UM Renegade Duty gets minimum body panels. It is finished in a matte green color scheme and premium features among which are LED rounded head and tail lamps, LED strip on front fork for better night time visibility, an analog instrument cluster with digital display, an odometer and fuel gauge and 17” alloy wheel in front and 15” alloy wheel at the rear.

Duty Ace

Suspension is carried out via 41mm telescopic forks in the front and dual hydraulic spring suspension at the rear. It gets 280mm disc brakes in the front and 130mm drum brakes at the rear and sports ground clearance of 180mm. It is noted with a sloping fuel tank design, sleek mudguard in the front and chopped mudguard at the rear and a wide step up seat which is comfortable for both rider and pillion. Night time visibility is enhanced through 360 optional LED lighting system that adds LED lamps on side of the bike.

The bike is powered by a 223cc, single cylinder, oil cooled engine offering 17 bhp power and 17 Nm torque. The engine is mated to a 5 speed gearbox sending power to rear wheel via a chain drive.

UM Renegade Duty is priced at INR 1.1 lakh and competes with the Bajaj Avenger series and Suzuki Intruder.

4 – Yamaha YZF-R3

Yamaha YZF-R3 was showcased at 2018 Auto Expo and also officially launched in India. It gets several upgrades for 2018 with new graphics, dual channel ABS and a BS VI compliant engine. This fully faired bike was launched by Bollywood actor, biking enthusiast and Yamaha brand ambassador John Abraham. It is seen in two shades of Racing Blue and Magna Black.

In terms of features, the Yamaha YZF-R3 gets new sticker Metzeler radial tyres. Suspension duties are carried out via 41mm Kayaba forks in the front and monoshock at the rear while braking is via 298mm front and 220mm rear disc brakes.

Features also include twin cat like headlamps, full fairing, clip on handlebars and a sporty rear section. It also continues to sport the semi digital instrument cluster as seen on its earlier model. The new bike is heavier by 3 kgs as compared to its predecessor which weighed 167 kgs.

Yamaha YZF-R3 sees only feature updates but engine specifications continue to be the same as was noted in its earlier counterpart. This 321cc, inline, twin cylinder, liquid cooled engine produces 41 bhp peak power at 10,750 rpm and 29.6 Nm torque at 9,000 rpm mated to a 6 speed gearbox.

Where pricing is concerned, Yamaha has added a price tag of INR 3.48 lakhs to the new Yamaha YZF-R3 which is an increase of INR 23,000 over the older model. This price hike is justified considering the new and updated features seen on the new model specially considering it gets dual channel ABS and Metzeler sport tyres. It is brought into India via the CKD route from Indonesia where the bike is produced for global markets. It competes with the Kawasaki Ninja 300, DSK Benelli 302R, TVS Apache RR 310 and KTM RC 390.

3 – DC TCA

Popular Bollywood actor Sonakshi Sinha unveiled the DC TCA sports car at 2018 Auto Expo. DC TCA is launched at INR 39 lakhs and above and enters production from October at the DC Design factory in Talegaon, Maharashtra along with the Avanti. It will be limited to just 299 units.

DC TCA is an acronym for Titanium, Carbon Fibre and Aluminum. It is a sportscar which in terms of design will be more premium than the Avanti. It gets a wider, lower and more powerful stance as compared to the DC Avanti and each unit will be personally signed by Dilip Chhabria.

The mid-engined sports car borrows inspiration from LaFerrari and Pagani Zonda. Interiors have been finished in a red and black color scheme seen on its seating and dashboard. It gets a comprehensive touchscreen infotainment system and color instrument display.

TCA, is a mid engined sports car with a rear wheel drive layout. It gets its power from a 3.8 liter V6 engine offering 320 bhp power and mated to a 6 speed automatic gearbox. Acceleration is estimated from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.5 seconds which will make it the fastest car ever to be designed, developed and built in India. The company has not revealed top speed of the TCA but it is reported to stand at 200 kmph.

In terms of safety features, the TCA will get ABS, ESP and traction control as standard. It will have low kerb weight and ground clearance and the company claims to have already received pre-orders for 60 units.

2 – Hyundai Elite i20

The facelifted version of Hyundai Elite i20 comes in at a starting price of INR 5.35 lakhs. It is presented in 10 variants and the top end diesel variant has a price tag of INR 9.15 lakhs. Minor changes are seen to the exterior with a new high gloss front grille, fresh alloy wheel design and updated tail lamps. The exteriors also get Tucson line DRLs with fog lamps, diamond cut 16” alloy wheels, air curtain and a glossy C pillar.

Hyundai Elite i20 facelift also receives segment first dual tone exterior color options and is presented in the same four variants of Era, Magna Executive, Sportz, Asta and Asta(O) as was seen on its earlier counterpart.

Era, the base variant of Hyundai Elite i20 facelift is seen with front airbags, central locking system, seat belt pre-tensioners, ABS and engine immobilizers. Interiors get black and beige color scheme and features such as front seat headrest, power windows in the front and adjustable mirror. The Magna Executive variant gets body color door handles and mirrors, wheel covers, AC vents at the rear and electrically adjustable mirrors along with infotainment from a 2 DIN integrated radio with MP3 player and front and rear speakers with AUX-In and USB connectivity.

Sportz variant of the Elite i20 is fitted with fog lamps, rear defogger, height adjustable driver seat, and Bluetooth and multifunction controls on steering wheel. Asta gets reverse parking sensors and rear view cameras. It sits on R15 gun metal alloys and gets its infotainment via a 17.77cm touchscreen with navigation, MirrorLink, CarPlay and Android Auto along with an Arkamys surround sound system.

Asta (O), the top of the line variant is fitted with curtain and side airbags, automatic projector headlamps, keyless entry, driver and passenger adjustable seat belts and LED DRLs. It also gets R16 diamond cut alloy wheels and automatic climate controls.

Engine specifications remain the same in the form of a 1.2 liter VTVT petrol engine offering 82 bhp power and 115 Nm torque and a 1.4 liter diesel capable of 89 bhp power and 220 Nm torque. The petrol engine is mated to a 5 speed manual and CVT while the diesel engine gets a 6 speed manual gearbox.

1 – Maruti Suzuki Swift

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, leading automakers in India, not only showcased, but also officially launched the third generation Maruti Swift. This new Maruti Swift was shown along with the FutureS concept, e-Survivor concept and more.

Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback comes in at an introductory price between INR 4.99-8.29 lakhs which is around INR 19,000 more than its earlier counterpart. It was opened for bookings in January and is seen based on Suzuki’s 5th generation HEARTECT platform. Deliveries will commence later this month while waiting period is between 6-8 weeks. It’s new styling on a lightweight platform, added fuel efficiency and better features will allow the new Swift to claim the charts once again.

Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback gets a completely new design with a large front grille, new headlamps with projector lens and LED DRLs. It sits on new diamond cut alloy wheels and at the rear, LED tail lamps are also noted. Interiors spell better class and comfort with quality features and added head and leg room since the new Swift is 40 mm wider with 20 mm longer wheel base.

These increased dimensions and a longer wheelbase also results in boot capacity increased to 268 liters. The hatchback gets a dual pod instrument cluster, a flat bottom steering wheel and infotainment system that support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto besides Auto climate control on top end variants.

No engine changes are seen on the 3rd Generation Swift which continues to be powered by a 1.2 liter K-Series petrol engine offering 82 bhp power and 115 Nm torque and a 1.3 liter DDiS diesel engine offering 74 bhp power and 190 Nm torque. Both these engines are mated to 5 speed manual gearbox and AMT.
